So, you’re now officially in a relationship with your ideal girl! This new relationship is surely giving you so much happiness, inspiration and excitement all at once. And because you have been lucky enough to have found someone you’re really into, and someone who’s also into you, it’s only right to make sure the relationship lasts. If you have recently made things official and need some tips on how to make the relationship work, here are some things to keep in mind.

Be yourself

Now that you’re in a committed relationship, it’s time to be more comfortable showing your true colors. To have a more authentic and strong relationship, couples must never hide anything from one another. You should make a conscious effort to show your partner who you really are. If she loves you, she will accept everything you are and everything you’re not, and vice versa. Taking off your mask and showing the real you will help you build a more genuine connection.

Be consistent

Now that there is finally a label on your new relationship, it’s important to be consistent with the efforts you are showing your girl. A lot of guys are only sweet and nice before they are in a relationship, but when the relationship starts to get more serious, they sometimes become irresponsible and less accountable. The efforts are no longer put towards creating the relationship. Don’t be this kind of man. Be the man who is consistent when it comes to expressing your love and affection. Be the man who continues to make your girl feel special no matter how long you have been together.

Avoid taking up all of her time

Most couples seem inseparable in the early stages of the relationship. It seems very hard to tear yourself from your girl because the world seems brighter when you’re together. However, be careful not to “suffocate” her by taking her freedom away.  Give her the freedom to breathe and do things on her own. Give her enough space to do the things that she wants and enjoys. Don’t be possessive or controlling or you may end up pushing her away her instead of pulling her closer.

Spend some time apart

While spending quality time is important in a new relationship, it is also equally important to spend a little time apart. Spending a little time away from each other is healthy for a relationship. Being in a serious relationship doesn’t mean that you have to do everything together all of the time. There are times when both of you will want  to be with other friends, or do certain activities apart. This will make you miss each other and look forward to being together again.

Always rekindle the romance

As time goes by, the initial romance you felt when the relationship was new will eventually fade. It doesn’t mean that the love will fade, too. But the spark, the butterflies in your stomach, the thrill of seeing each other again may not stay the same as the relationship grows. Make a conscious effort to rekindle the romance every chance you get. Do something to relive the moments of when the relationship was just starting out or when you were dating. Think about the things you enjoy doing together. Do you still make time for those activities? Do you still take your girl out on dates? Do you still find ways to be romantic? The more effort you put into the relationship, the more she will feel you still want to be with her.

Don’t forget to enjoy the relationship

The feeling of a new love is one of the best feelings of the world. Embrace these feelings or they may fade away. Cherish these moments and cherish your relationship.  Keep these moments fresh in your mind and keep them going throughout your relationship.
